Dillman Baker Sorrells

Artist’s comments:

As a child I designed and made my own clothes, later made pottery and sculpture but put my art aside for several years for other work. Now I devote my time to designing.

In my current work I enjoy using not only lively domestic fabrics, but fabrics from around the world, particularly bright Asian batiks and recycled pieces of Japanese kimonos.  My clothing is pieced and/or quilted and embellished in a variety of ways as are my wall hangings.  I often use hand-dyed fabric from many sources.  I call my wearable art and other work, Threads for the Spirit ©, in hopes that my joy with fabric, color, and thread will enliven others.

My work is offered for sale in Rochester through the SEMVA Art Center.  When time allows I accept direct commissions.
