Jeanne Licari in the “Drawn for Life” show at Crossings.

SEMVA artist Jeanne Licari is participating  in the “Drawn From Life, studies of the human form” group exhibition January 4th–21st at Crossings in Zumbrota MN.

The human figure has captured the attention and wonder of artists since the inception of sculpture and painting. 16 artists were challenged to create works with the human form as the focal point, and bring their collective talents to Crossings’ first art exhibit of the year: “Drawn From Life”.

For Licari, the challenges in drawing and painting figures encourage her growth as an artist.  She prefers to draw from life because there is so much more to see in reflected light, different planes and shadow colors. “I am always motivated to capture the personality of the model in a moment of time.”

A free artist reception will be held Friday, January 8 from 7 to 9 p.m., giving the public a chance to meet the artists, mingle with other art lovers and enjoy complimentary treats.
